I am a little behind on blogging- surprise! I thought I would update what has been going on in the Nelson home! Devin came home for Christmas and will be living with us this next year while he finishes up school. Then he'll be off to grad school or law school or maybe China again!!! So it has been great for Reece to be around Devin and get to know his big brother!!! And as usual I am super outnumbered with no other girls in this home other than Lila our bassett mix! But I sure do have fun with these boys so I'm not complaining!!

Reece is officially potty trained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, you will think I am weird but I was very nervous about this and SAD that he won't be in diapers anymore. It signaled one more way that he is growing up. Sniff, sniff. But, I quickly got past that and I am SO proud of him! He's such a big boy but if you ask him that he'll say "no, I'm Momma's baby." Umm...melt my heart. I will never get tired of him saying that. Ok so maybe when he's 30 but I doubt it ;)

He will be 3 in less than a month so we have been busy planning his birthday party! We also have to officially lock away his paci. He knows it, you know it, we all know it has to happen but I am still praying daily that that is a smooth transition. I was hoping to get him off the paci ("sassy" as he likes to call it) closer to January but the potty training thing took over and I really wasn't too thrilled to do both at one time. So here we are planning to get rid of it by the big 3!

Reece also has a big boy room now with trains of course everywhere. It has been a lot of fun switching his room over to the big boy "theme" but of course it never looks like the magazines do. ha!

He constantly talks about his girlfriend Payton and his best friends Owen and Hallie "Cake" (he does not get that her name is Hallie Cate). He also thinks Luca Belle is his sister which is hilarious! I love it!
At night when we say our prayers he is constantly chiming in and saying " Jesus be with my friends and my sister Luca Belle and my friends and my friends and me, Reecey" Pretty funny to hear although I will say the prayers take a long time to get through! ha. As they should!

Life is a lot of fun for us. I will try to keep everyone updated more often! Until then, God Bless!

Oh, and by the way, the pics above are mostly from Christmas and from Reece being silly outside with an exercise ball of all things?! I got a DSLR camera from Michael for Christmas and am hoping to learn more so I can get into taking pictures of Reece. I have a lot to learn though!

Well, I would love to update some pictures of Reece but I seem to have lost my camera cord to download pics! I'm sure I could buy one but I'm not done tearing up my house looking for it yet! Had a wonderful weekend last weekend! Mom, Julie, Luca Bella, "Teeta", Olivia and Brady came up and we cooked s'mores by the fireside in the backyard! It was pretty funny listening to the kids tell "ghost stories." It was a beautiful, cool weekend that we thoroughly enjoyed! The guys (Michael, Charlie, Dad, Justin & Nina -not a guy) were at the Texas A&M game watching the HOGS pull a WIN! Would have loved to have been at that game but I really enjoyed being here too!
I've put out a lot of my Halloween decor but I don't seem to be keeping up with the laundry! Boo! Oh well...the laundry can wait! Almost had a short play date today with Hallie Cate so Dr. Metta could check out Felix but poor Hallie Cate may be coming down with the stomach bug and Metta and I hated to risk spreading it around. So poor Reece didn't get to see HC today!! But there's next week. So now I'm hoping to find my camera cord today and update some pictures on here. Oh, and do a little laundry....;)

Well, I can see I am really behind on posting. A 2 1/2 year old keeps you busy! To get everyone up to speed- Reece is as you can read almost 2 1/2 years old. He is a big boy! Very active, sometimes a bully and sometimes still bites = (. We are working on this but it is SO hard! I know other mommas of biters can relate! He's still a sweetie. Definitely LOVES his mom- a big time Momma's boy! But definitely loves his daddy too. Especially when daddy takes him outside to get blackberries out of the garden or to ride his tricycles.
He's still at St.John's Lutheran childcare. He has a new teacher now which is hard to get use to but I know it will go well. We are currently working on getting serious about potty training and then next will be no more paci! Hey, I can only do one at a time! And yes, coming from the mouth of a dental hygienist= my child still has his paci! ( They're ok until 3 dental wise ;0 ) I can only do one thing at a time and I'm trying potty training first. We are probably half way there! Strangely though I'm kind of sad to get him out of diapers because that means he's growing up! (I know, I'm weird).
Reece, as I said before, is such a Momma's boy. And I LOVE it! It's down to me being the only one who can put him to bed but at least he'll let Daddy give him a bath. It makes my heart melt and I'm sure Michael doesn't mind being able to have some free time to himself! ha!
Last night I told him he needed to go to bed and that would make him grow to be a big boy and his nose and head would feel better (we are battling a cold). So then he goes down the list of what body parts will feel better after a night's sleep. And I mean EVERY body part!!!! It was so cute and funny!!!!!! " Momma, my booty will get better....my hair will get better...my ears will get better... ?"....absolutely so cute!
His little cousin Luca Belle Isaacson is coming in two weeks and I think he's going to love it. He wants to hold babies right now! Not real sure if he'll think she's that fun at 6 weeks old but I'LL get some lovin' on her either way!!!!
We turned his bed into a big boy bed already. It's more roomy and he seems more comfortable. We are debating whether to move him upstairs within the next year or not. I never thought room assignments would be this hard!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a mother you worry constantly!!

I will definitely try to keep posting pictures and postings on here. These are pictures from when Luca Belle was 1 week old. There's Brady, Olivia, Luca Belle and Reece. As you can see in one picture Reece was checking out her belly button! Very funny!

Pumpkin patch

Today we went to vanzants' pumpkin patch! It was cute! Reece picked out some pumpkins and was very persistent about pulling the wagon!!! Kind of had a minor meltdown. Oh well... Preparing me I guess! The weather is great! Feels like fall!!

Reece is really liking st. Johns. We have been so pleased!! He is saying tons of words, still biting but I'm reading a book about positive discipline and it's helping me see what's age appropriate behavior. That helps! We still battle those pesky ear infections but they are fewer at least. He's going to be a vampire for Halloween. I felt that was fitting since he bites so much. Plus his canines are so sharp! The pic is of him being silly in the tub!

Reece is talking a lot. He knows what the cow, duck, pig, horse, and sheep say. He also likes the word no too. ;)

Lately he's been even telling me when he "poo poo". (sorry, that's just what he says).

Reece has been so busy getting into things. And falling and bruising and getting boo boo's. Today Olivia, Brady and Nina came by and they played in the laundry basket! Thought this photo was so cute! Nina and Michael have been so helpful this past week since I had my gallbladder removed! Reece even seems to understand mommy has a boo boo (on her bee Bo )....this book we read calls our belly button our bee-Bo. Funny! Tired of the heat but enjoying summer. Love to all!

Had a 21st / going away party for Devin today. Devin's sisters and Brady and Reece all played! It was so fun! Hard to believe devin's 21 ! And he'll be gone a year.. Studying abroad in china- we are sure going to miss him! Took pic of Reece later after party- he was pooped. The bottom photo is Devin, Reece, Natalie, and Chloe. Reece has quite the personality these days. He lets you know if he doesn't like something or doesn't want to do something. He straightens out his legs and arches his back to let you know. Which I hear is normal at this age. He likes the lake and the boat. And to throw things out of the boat! He eats good, naps pretty well, sleeps good and is talking. He says " momma, it's cold". That's his favorite sentence right now. We also count to 3 in his own way. So fun and so cute! And he's keeping me busy!!

Today I worked half a day so Reece and I made the ole' loved chi o cookies. They were yummy and Reece loved them! A little too much. He says "more" or what sounds like that when he wants more and does the sign for more too.
Right now he is copying everything. I think he even said beer today after michael said it. Oops.
He's so fun at this age! I love it!

Today we tripped and fell on the driveway and skinned our forehead! Poor baby cried for a while but he's good now. Part of being a toddler but I still worry! I thought he busted his mouth so I was a little relieved. We bought a blow up pool today...now if it will only warm back up!

Sunday we went to grandma dona's and papa doug's house for a late lunch. They have a baby rooster Guyito that Reece played with. We had a good time and great weekend. Today we went to the park and played a little! Fun times!

Well we are having biting issues at ms. Jan's! He bit Owen twice! Why does it have to be your best friend's child??? So we are trying to figure out ways to stop this. Today he got in my china cabinet and I heard my crystal goblets shaking and so I said "no no Reece" and shook my finger and he turned back at me and said "no no" with his finger. Nice. I had to try not to laugh.
So it's pretty busy at the Nelson home these days! But loving it none the less!!

Later today while doing some yard work Reece decided to play a little in his sandbox. Although he won't get in it. He dumped a shovel full of it down his shirt. That really surprised him! We are definitely ready for warmer weather again!! Maybe next weekend!

These are late pictures from Easter. We stayed here that weekend and saw Justin, Nina, Olivia and Brady! However, we didn't do an egg hunt! I kind of forgot because the day was so busy. Reece is such a funny little Man. He's so ticklish, laughs at everyone, loves to dance and shake his booty and is just so sweet. I will soon post pics of him dancing, it is quite funny! Reece is so energetic. Wearing his mom out! We are currently "researching" daycares for the next step. Love Ms. Jan...wish she would keep him until 5! Or wish I could stay home with him. Looking at St. Johns, montessori, and just like home. Why is this so hard? Hope to make a decision soon.

She is based out of her home, a huge clean freak, loves the kids (has great patience), and fair priced. I love her and Reece loves her!!! She keeps the kids up until age 2. Christmas Day

Christmas Day was one of the best memories I've made. It was Reece's 1st Christmas and a 1st White Christmas for both of us! Devin got home from China on Dec 23rd and got to spend time with us and get to know Reece better. Reece looks a lot like Devin did when he was a baby. We woke up, saw what Santa brought Reece, opened gifts, played in the snow (went sledding) and then Memommy, Dedaddy, Aunt Nina, Uncle Justin, Olivia and Brady came over and we ate tons of food! It was such a good time!!! The only thing missing was Aunt Julie and Uncle Charlie.
Reece got a Radio Flyer wagon, a Radio Flyer horse that rocks and bounces, an air ball toy (that he is playing with in the picture) and a musical piano thing. I think 91/2 months was perfect because he played with all of his toys and absolutely loved them!!!!
I love the picture of Michael, Devin and Reece (my boys)! You can really see the resemblance....look at the blue eyes!
I am trying to post more and will definitely work on posting more as a New Year's Resolution! Love to all and Happy Holidays!!! May God bless you this year and always!!

Lights on the Square

Early in December we went to see the Lights at the Square! Reece loved it!
Today Reece is 10 months old!
He can crawl and just yesterday is pulling up on everything!!!! He has bumps and scratches to prove it! He says DaDa, Momma, Uh-oh, "Dat" which we think means "that". He says "HOT" when he gets near the fireplace and said "Lights" or something that sounded like that when we took him to the Christmas tree.
He sways from side to side when dancing and looks like Ray Charles. He wears a size 4 in diapers and about 18 months in clothing. He is almost 25 lbs!!!! In the 95th percentile for head circumference and weight and in the 90th percentile for height. He does NOT like stage 3 foods that have chunks of pasta or rice but he will eat a cracker and play with tiny pieces of food. He does just fine with stage 2 baby food so that is what he gets!
Everywhere I go I get comments on how happy he is! He is happy 95% of the time (unless he's sick, tired or hungry). Makes me nervous for what my 2nd child will be like! haha! He laughs and gives me his big toothy grin all of the time! Which by the way he has 4 teeth. We have battled 3 ear infections pretty much back to back and pray that we get through this winter season without them!
I will post pics from Christmas day next and anything else I can think of that is going on with him right now!

Snow Day!!!

This was our 2nd snow day with Reece! He loved it! We even went sledding down the small hill in our backyard! You can tell how hard it is for kids to wear gloves so used socks! Will post pics of Reece on Christmas day!

Our growing boy!

Reece is 7 1/2 months old! Poor Reece has had a rough week! On Saturday we went to the football game and Reece was doing great, having a fun time. When we got home late that afternoon Michael noticed he was warm (note: I am obviously not good at telling fever b/c I had been holding him)....took his temp and it was 101. Not a high fever I realize but still it was Reece's first fever other than the occasional 99. So panic struck at the Nelson residence. Well, probably more from Reece's Daddy but that's ok- gotta love a Dad that worries! And yes, I was concerned too but the little guy was just laughing and playing and I was trying not to panic. So long story short- we took him to a walk-in clinic and he has a double ear infection and red throat. The next day we took him to Michael's parents to see Michael's Grandmother who was in town and Reece was miserable! He cried, fretted and just had a difficult day. I felt bad that Michael's family couldn't play with him more but they understood. So I was home with him Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday he went back to Ms. Jan's. He is finally back to normal but on top of all this we have 2 little teeth that have erupted! No one could be more proud than 2 parents that are in the dental field (hahaha)....except now not only do I have to brush my own teeth but I have 2 more teeth to brush!

Things that are going on right now with Reece:

He has 2 teeth (like I said)
He has learned to clap
When we put him in the crawling position, he rocks back and forth and then collapses pretty quickly.
He is still in a 3 for diapers which I believe may be the longest he has been in a diaper size...other than the newborn size.
He is wearing anywhere from 9mo, 12mo, 18 mo...depending on the brand.
He loves bath time and knows (after getting his pj's on) that when he sees that rocking chair a bottle is coming shortly and he will let you know it if you take too long!
We still haven't baby proofed our home..... I know, I know.
I am totally ok with him not crawling yet....boy do I worry about that day when he becomes mobile.
He loves grabbing my hair and admiring what a good job Taylor does with my blonde highlights....I am so tempted to cut it, it hurts getting your hair pulled!
At home he eats about 6 oz every 3-4 hours, but at Ms. Jan's he eats 8 oz every 3-4 hours!

We are loving every minute with our little guy! Can't wait for his first Halloween...

At the Stadium

On game day we went and ate at US Pizza with Aunt Julie, Uncle Charlie, Memommy and Dedaddy! It was a lot of fun! At the game Reece did get a little sleepy as you can see by the yawn. And we had him wearing the ear muffs for sound ( it wasn't that cold!) He pretty much watched Sarah Wesley and another little boy while at the game!

Well, I finally got back into the game of blogging. We bought a new camera and I just now sat down to upload all of our new photos. We had his 6 month check up not too long ago. He is in the 95% for weight and 75% for height and head circumference. He is trying to teeth but nothing yet. Poor thing has been just a little cranky. He is getting even better at sitting up but it may be a while before we see him crawling. Which I am very ok with this! This weekend we plan to baby proof our house (no, we haven't done that yet)!

He literally smiles and laughs constantly. He is such a funny little guy. I really hope to catch him laughing on video because it is so cute! I will post it if I can figure out how! Also, I am going to post photos from the Razorback game next. Happy Fall! I love this time of year~

Summer pics

Today Reece is 6 months old. As I say on every post, it is going by so fast! We are having so much fun with him! We spent quite a few days down in Stuttgart in August with MeMommy & DeDaddy. The picture of him in the red outfit is today. Aunt Michele sent him that cute outfit!

Some things Reece is doing right now:

-Sitting up (sometimes falls over and then laughs)

-Grabbing at everything and then trying to put it in his mouth

-Kind of saying "Da Da Da"...I'm in denial (haha)

-Very interested in his toys

-Has found his toes

-Apparently not napping as well at Ms. Jan's (apparently he's too loud and wakes up the other kids, too! Sorry, Ms. Jan!)

-Is eating baby food...loves it all, except he doesn't love the peas

-loves the pets....and grabs onto them which makes Cubby, Lila and Felix a little unhappy....especially Cubby and Felix.

We think he is weighing about 21 lbs. right now...yes, he's our chunky monkey. Still wakes up about once a night...to eat.... His 6 mo appointment is Sept 11th so we will weigh him and give an update on everything! We're taking him to his 1st Razorback game on Saturday in LR. Hope he doesn't get too startled by all the hog fans!

Ringbearer Reece

Aunt Juuie and Uncle Chochee got married on July 18th! Reece was one of the ring bearers and was such a good trooper during the reception! He danced with us and fell asleep on Aunt Julie. He had on a onesie with a tux appearance painted on it. So adorable! Julie and Charlie's wedding was absolutely beautiful!

1st beach vacation

About 3 weeks ago we took Reece on his 1st beach vacation to Clearwater Beach, FL. At first, Reece wasn't sure what to think about the beach and sand. But by the 2nd day, he was so into it! He loved watching the water and putting his toes in the sand. It was so much fun! He took periodic catnaps throughout the day either on the beach or in the room. He also loved his floaty MeMommy got him for Easter. We put him in that in the swimming pool. Since then we have been busy with Julie's wedding and then just trying to get back on a schedule! He can almost sit up by himself and is just a busy little bee when he's awake. I will try to post pics from Julie and Charlie's wedding and from trying our first baby food! Love to all!

4 months old

Ok, these photos were hillarious to me! First of all, we captured Reece gagging from his first rice experience. His facial expressions were priceless and we got them on video. Ms. Jan tells us he just loves the jumperoo so we went and bought him one. This morning while I packed for FL, I put him in it and let him watch Baby Einstein...about 45 minutes later after he bounced and talked for a while- we saw that he had fallen asleep! It was so precious~ We took a pic and then put him down for a nap in his crib. So adorable. Apparently he just loves it!!! Happy 4th of July everyone!

Well, I wait forever to post a new blog and now I am posting a whole slew of pics!

Reece is really growing. He is grabbing for toys and his book, as you can see in the photo. He loves to lay on Daddy and you know, Michael, he really pushes "Tummy Time". We introduced rice to his diet yesterday on his 4 month. He liked it ok, gagged a little. Will post more pics of this next. We are heading out tomorrow for his first airplane ride to St. Petersburg, FL for a beach vacation. I literally think I packed the entire contents of my home....wow. More photos coming and I will definitely be posting pics from the vacation! Florida here we come!

This weekend went by so fast! Saturday we ran errands, Sunday we met up with Grandma Dona and Grandpa Doug to look at a house they are interested in. This the most recent picture of Reece! I call him my little "Chunky Monkey"! He is so sweet, he loves to "talk" and laugh, watch Baby Einstein and melt his Mom and Dad's hearts! Today Reece is 3 months old! It's hard to believe that my little baby is already 3 months! It has taken me so long to post and I don't even have a current pic of my cutie to put on here! I had lost my camera but thankfully found it. I promise to post current pics soon.

Last week (May 26th) was my first day back at work from being off on 12 weeks of maternity leave! It was so hard but I know he is going to a wonderful home-based daycare, Ms. Jan's! Plus, I have fully decided to work part-time so at least I have Mondays and Fridays at home with the little man. The neatest thing is the night before my first day back at work Reece has consistently slept through the night. Well, except for last night...he got a little hungry at 3 am but his Daddy fed him!

Reece seems to be changing and growing each and every day. He has discovered his fist and likes to cram the whole thing in his mouth. He also loves his floor gym (or whatever you call it)...he loves looking up at the lights and listening to the music. We also tried his bumbo seat for the first time this weekend and he seems to like it. I definitely think he will like it more as he gets older.

He loves to belly laugh and smile at us. And of course it just melts our hearts!

In about a week 1/2 we are going to see Aunt Julie and Uncle Charlie in Overland Park for their wedding shower/pool party so he will get to swim for the first time! Will be sure to take pictures and of that and post them!

Big brother Devin is leaving for China tomorrow for 2 months. Reece was sure to talk to him tonight. Not sure what he told him but I'm sure it was him telling Devin that he'll miss him. Reece is going to look so different to Devin when he's back from China!

Reece was baptized on May 3rd, this past Sunday. He is now 2 months old ( 9 weeks). He is smiling all the time as you can see in this picture and all the others. He is cooing, and just an overall very happy baby! We are working on tummy time but right now he is obsessed with the Baby Einstein videos. He will watch them for about 45 minutes straight! The past 2 nights he has slept through the night but I don't plan to hold my breath on that one! ha!

He did so good during his Baptism. He slept through most of it until they placed water on his head but he still didn't cry. Later during the service I felt something warm on my lap....a little pee, that's all- thankfully! His gown was so pretty, very boyish....which made his Daddy happy!

We are loving every bit of him and thank the good Lord for him every night!

Reece is 7 weeks old today! It seems like yesterday he was born and already he's over a month old, almost 2 months old. He is the happiest baby....just smiles all the time as you can see in the picture. He is sporting his beloved Razorback tee. He sleeps so good. Normally he goes to bed around 9 to 9:30 then sleeps either until about 3:30 am or sometimes 5 am. We are just loving every minute! Tonight we are going to see his big brother, Devin, play in a Razorback Band concert at the Walton Arts Center. It is Devin's last concert as he is deciding to quit the Razorback Marching Band. He has way too many majors and minors to keep up with! This week has been so nice so far. We are getting ready to get out and run some errands and enjoy the beautiful day!

We made our first trip down to Stuttgart for Easter weekend to visit the grandparents and Aunts and Uncles! This is Reece on Easter morning for his 1st trip to Church. It was such a fun weekend. We stayed at MeMommy and DeDaddy's and had visitors all day Saturday while Daddy, Uncle Charlie, Uncle Justin and DeDaddy went golfing. On Sunday we woke up, had spit up and pee surprise right before getting on his Easter outfit (thankfully before, not after). Then we came back from Church, had lunch with Meemaw and Papaw Meins and then went and met PaPaw Woerner who asked if he could keep him. It was so sweet!

He slept so well at their house. I was worried he may not do so well but he did! He also did so good for the drive to Stuttgart and back. I am posting more pics from the weekend as well!

Reece 3 weeks old

">My gosh does time fly by! Reece is 3 weeks old this week! As you can see he is just smiling and being the sweetest little baby! We are really enjoying each day with him! He still sleeps so well and loves to be held during the day. And I happily hold him whenever he wants! He met his grandpa John Nelson this week and loved him of course. He can't wait to meet his great-Aunts and great-grandparents on Easter weekend in Stuttgart! We are looking forward to that trip! Will try to get on here more often to post. I am waiting on a baby sling to use while on the computer! Hope it works!

Today Reece is 2 weeks old! We dressed him in green for St. Patty's Day. Our day has been pretty busy, just changing diapers, feeding and sleeping! We both have doctor appts tomorrow so that will keep us pretty busy. We may go for a walk this afternoon since it is so nice out. I think Reece would enjoy it! I am finally getting better at posting pics. Hopefully it continues!

Well, we survived our 1st week and are starting our 2nd! Reece has slept so well, I don't know what I have done to deserve such a wonderful sleeping baby! Michael had a talk with Reece after the 1st (sleepless) night and said "Now Reece, when you wake up at night I want you to look over at Daddy and if you see Daddy is sleeping then that means you should be sleeping too!" And since then the little man has slept. He kind of coos around 2:30 am and around 6 am and so I feed him and he is off to dream land again. He does like to eat which is good because the doctors were worried about his weight. Last we checked he was up to 7 lbs 1 oz. We go again on Wednesday and I also have my first doctor appt that day and can finally drive and pick up the carrier! He is so precious, I will try to post pics of him today!

On March 3, 2009 at 3:13 pm, our sweet baby boy was born! He weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz and 21 inches long! What a sweet little dumplin' he is! We love him so much!!!!

On Tuesday, March 3rd, we went to the hospital at 6 am to be induced. It took about 6 attempts before they could get an IV started. That wasn't much fun. Once they hooked me up to the monitor they realized I was already having contractions which I thought I might be but how do you really know when it's your first time? They obviously were mild. So I told the nurse I wanted to feel the contractions for a while before having an epidural. She started the pitocin and checked and I was about at a 2. Then they came and broke my water and saw muconium so placed a little device inside that flushed in clean saline and flushed out the muconium, kind of cool. They check me again and I'm at a 5. Now, I'm getting pretty ready for this epidural. But the nurse tells me we need to make sure I get a full bag of saline via IV before that which would take about 45 minutes...yikes. At this point I am having good contractions but his heart rate keeps dropping so they are flipping me on my sides and giving me oxygen. Dr. Smith then decides to insert a little device that measures the intensity of my contractions. So they do, and I could have already told them they were intense but hey, I'm just the pregnant lady- ha. Still waiting on the epidural because we can't do it until his heart rate is stable. Now I was getting more worried. I thought please, just put me out and take this little baby out so he will be ok! Then, my new best friend- Aaron -the nurse anesthetist? comes in to give me my Epidural. I am at about a 7 at that point I think and really wanting the epidural! Then sweet relief...again, he was my new bestest friend! ha! Dr. Smith explains that my body is too sensitive to the pitocin and when I am having good contractions, Reece doesn't do so well. And when they lower the pitocin, he does great, but I don't progress. So she asked me if I wanted to go on with a C-section or keep trying. I told her I wanted what was best for him and asked her what would she do? She recommended placing a fetal heart monitor on his scalp and see how we do. So she did which broke my heart b/c I could feel him pull away it when they placed it under his skin on his head. Poor baby. So about 3 minutes went by and Dr. Smith came back in the room and said we were doing a c-section b/c his heart rate wasn't good. That was at about 2:40 maybe and they took me to surgery and at 3:13 pm he was born. He did have the umbilical cord around his neck which explained why his heart rate kept going down. I am so glad I didn't know that before because I would have been worried sick. The nurses and doctors took such good care of us! They kept me from worrying and were so calm through all of it. In the end, I got to feel my contractions (maybe more than I had wanted to) and the little dumplin' is healthy!

I will attach pictures of him. He is doing so good. He's now 1 week and 1 day old. Such a pretty little thing and sleeps so good at night! I love him so very much! I will try to blog in between feeding him...ha! This is a full time job!

Well, tomorrow is the big day! We go in at 6am to be induced! Today will be super busy...trying to get all that last minute stuff together before bringing Baby Reece home! It's been nice reading emails from friends who just had babies, makes this all seem a little bit easier! At least it calms my nerves. I am going to attempt to download some maternity pics today done by Kimberlea Bass Photography. Once again, I will say it- my blog site needs help! After today, we will be posting Reece's pics ! Yeah! Oh, and I will try to download pics of his room at some point, too. Keep us in your prayers! I will get Aunt Julie to keep everyone informed.

5 days until the big due date! Of course, we know that doesn't mean he'll be here in 5 days! It's still unreal to think about though! Things are going good. I've felt great, just a little tired on some days...like today. Can't tell if I'm having small, weak contractions or just cramping. I mean, how does one know anyway? Unless they are full blown contractions.

Getting very excited to meet Reece but nervous too. The normal things Moms go through I'm sure. His room is pretty much finished, just needs a few small things touched up. ANd yes, my bags are finally packed and his car seat is in the car! ha! I have an appointment on Friday to see what's going on. As of last week I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Sounds slow to me but I guess we shall see! Love to all!

We finally got our power back on Friday morning! We were without power from Tues afternoon until Fri morning! I spent my 29th birthday with no power! But, I have to admit, it was pretty memorable. I mean, how many people can say they camped out on a mattress in their living room in front of a fireplace on their bday? It just made me realize how thankful I am that Reece isn't due until 4 more weeks. I can't imagine trying to keep a sweet little baby warm with no heat or electricity. I would have been a nervous wreck!

I promise to download photos soon. I have the biggest belly, ya'll really might not want to see this! ha!

Well today is an icy day! Michael didn't leave Berryville in time yesterday and got stuck in my car on the side of the road. 2 wheels were off the road, 2 on the road. And this was on the side of a small mountain. He was so afraid the car would go over the mountain, I was so afraid he'd be in it when it happened. Luckily, a passerby brought him back to Berryville where he called a tow truck and one of his employee's husbands helped him go pick up the car. He stayed the night with them in Berryville and will hopefully be able to get back home today or tomorrow (my birthday!) Everyone please say a prayer that he makes it home safely!

On top of that, I had his car yesterday and left work around 4:30, stopped quickly at Walmart to grab some groceries and on my way home put his car in the ditch on Guy Terry Rd. It had not been salted and most of you know we live kind of out in the country. Luckily, me nor Baby Reece was hurt and my neighbors gave me a ride home. So, I teased Michael and said we were "even" with our cars. Ha ha! Cars can be replaced, thankfully God watched over us.

So, I am just staying indoors today and going to wash some of Reece's clothes and possibly paint the belly cast the Great 8 and I made this weekend. Hope this finds all of you safe! I will post some pictures of Reece's ultrasound that Jyl did this weekend. He's so cute! His foot is up by his face in most of the pics.

Well, Christmas and New Years have passed (so quickly) and now the next big thing is Reece's big debut! We are a little over 7 weeks away. Wow, just saying that is so unreal.

Michael and I just took a trip to LA to see the Rose Parade and just spend some time together. It was nice, I guess it was sort of like a BabyMoon. Although it wasn't much fun having swollen ankles and not getting to shop the neat stores. Oh well, one day I will get to again! ha!

I am getting a little nervous that Reece's room is not together yet and we are just running out of time! I know it will all come together though. Hopefully Michael and I will get some free weekends to spend together and just prepare for the fun road ahead of us. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Love to you all!

Michael and I are trying to get ready for Christmas and preparing for the baby as we go! It's hard to believe we have 10 more weeks before Reece gets here. And I am sooo not prepared (with the nursery that is). I definitely cannot wait to meet him! It's funny to think that this time next year he will be nearly 10 months old. What a fun Christmas that will be!

My blog site needs a little help, I know. Give me time, hopefully my brain will work long enough one day to work on it!

1st Blog Entry- 23 weeks

Well, here we go! My first blog entry! We are at 23 weeks along now. Due date is March 1st, 2009. It's a BOY! John Reece is his name but we will call him
"Reece". John is after Michael's Dad, paternal and maternal grandfathers and uncle. He is a mover- kicking and allowing himself to be known. It's been very exciting so far! We haven't started on the nursery yet but hope to start furniture shopping and planning next weekend.
My pregnancy has been so great! I can't complain other than an annoying backache that pops up at the end of the day. No sickness, other than a little nausea in the beginning. I will keep all of you posted and start trying to scan some photos of the ultrasound!
